China - Breastfeeding is Best

I had been suffering backache for the past few weeks and finally, my Hubby took me for massage. We tried out the Massage Centre near the badminton court in Taman Cheras Hartamas. It costed me RM50 for a full body massage.

The lady that massaged me was from China. To my delight, she asked me if I was still in studying. I surprised her with my answer that I already had a 7-mth old son and that guy that accompanied me earlier was my Hubby. She quickly complimented on how young and fit I looked (*wink*).

Then, she told me that she was married too but she separated from her Hubby long time ago. Her daughter was already 8 years old. She then asked if I was breastfeeding my baby to which I answered yes proudly.

She was amazed and told me that most Mummies she met in Malaysia never wanted to breastfeed their own baby for the fear of their figures. They were worried that their breast will eventually sag. However, in China, most Mummies breastfeed their own baby for at least 6 months exclusively.

I have not stopped nursing Little Jen, so I cannot not comment on what to expect after weaning off Little jen from the breast. However, losing my figure will never ever be an excuse for me to not give my best to my Little Jen. Anyway, it is not like ladies in Malaysia go out on the street without any bras on. And, of course, I will not place my Hubby's interest first before my children (Note - More than one child/person). For reassurance, my Hubby and I had mutually agreed to care for our children to the best of our ability and this includes breastfeeding (*smile*).

KL - Isetan, Mid Valley Nursing Room

Just last week a long lost friend of mine invited us out for dinner at Mid Valley. Right before our dinner, Little Jen and I had a good nursing session in Jusco, Mid Valley. As the area was more crowded, I had about 4 Mummies peeping into the Nursing Room to check if it was occupied. Luckily I had my Nursing Cover on and was facing inside while nursing Little Jen.

My Hubby and I almost had our eyes bulging out when my friend suggested to have dinner at The Gardens instead. It was considered to be on a higher end and we were totally unfamiliar with the dining areas available. But we went anyway since it might be great to experience something new. The menu was almost alien to me but interestingly, the food were great - Alexis.

Towards the end of our dinner, Little Jen became cranky and started singing his own tunes loudly. Checked our watches and yes, it was time for Little Jen's early supper. Good to have a friend familiar with The Gardens with us. She suggested us to go to the Nursing Room in Isetan on the 2nd floor where the Kiddies' Section was.

I was impressed with the simplicity of the Nursing Room, totally comfortable to the eyes and for both of us, Me and Little Jen. There were nice curtains and inside there was a table and an arm chair. We were the only family there and the other 2 Nursing Area were unoccupied. Right outside the Nursing Room, it was the Isetan departmental store and some lady staffs were hanging around there. It felt safe and did not feel eerie at all. The music was soft and since the area was almost customer-free, it was calm and quiet.

Outside the Nursing Area, there were taps for hot and cold water and also a few diaper changing stations. I would certainly visit the Nursing Room again since it should be less packed than the Nursing Room in Jusco, Mid Valley and also cause the Nursing Room at Isetan was better equipped.

Bangsar, KL - Bangsar Village Nursing Room

We set out on a quest to search for our choice of baby carrier. Our first stop was Bangsar Village. The mall seemed to be for the uptown people as the cars at the parking lot were mostly luxury saloon cars.

Upon arrival, we search for a directory for the exact location of Tiny Tapir. Tiny Tapir had a range of baby carriers. However, before we even found the shop, Little Jen was cranky already. Hence, we searched high and low for the Nursing Room. The directory showed the location of the Nursing Room clearly but searching for it was no easy task. In the end, we gave up and asked a staff of a cafe nearby as the Nursing Room was shown to be around there.

The staff told us that the Nursing Room was behind the door next to the cafe's counter. No wonder we could not find it. The door had no sign on it and there was no sign showing that the Nursing Room or Toilet were behind the door.

My Hubby checked the room to ensure that we were okay and left us, just in case some other nursing mothers needed to use the room too. The room was very simply designed with a water sink for washing. There were 2 chairs for nursing and they were put adjacent to each other with curtains to separate them. No space to walk in front of the curtains. That meant that if the outer chair was occupied and you needed to use the inner chair, you would have to invade on the privacy of the nursing mummy on the outer chair to get to the other chair.

The curtains were pleasantly bubbly with so many bubbles of different colours on them. However, it was not pleasant at all to me as Little Jen was so busy admiring the coloured bubbles that he refused to nurse.

Soon after my Hubby left, the door outside opened again and closed with a bang. I had to call out to ask if it was my Hubby since I could not see anything with the curtains pulled. No answer. I quickly finished the session and then left the room. Of course I was afraid for our safety as the room was at the end of a hallway from the Entrance. Next to the Nursing Room was a Male Toilet and if anything were to happen, there would be no one to hear us. Eerie.. I asked Hubby if he returned to the room after he left us. He said no, and I guessed it might have been some Cleaner.

That was my first time there and would be my last time as well..
